We all dream. There is no end of dreams we grow up and live with. Most of the time, we just don’t get a chance to make our dream come true. But rare often, we get a difficult chance to be at where we dream to be.

And that’s exactly where right now my sister “Tahsin” apu is at.

She is among top 10 contestants of the most popular and the most valuable show, Lux Channel I Superstar 2009. Though she has got a chance to take herself into where she dreams to be at, she isn’t done yet. There’s a lot more difficult, difficult, and extremely difficult ways to go ahead. She’s trying to give her best. I believe she has everything that a superstar may need to have.

Who is out there who is not a fond of music? I guess, even Einstein-like people do also like listening to musics. When it comes to romantic, I just love.

Usually I listen to songs from bollywood films. I’m not a hardcore listener, though, but most of the time I play musics from latest hindi movies.

There are a lot of names of the most favorite songs of 2009 in the list, but when terming as Romantic, I find Khuda Jaane from the movie Bachna ae Haseeno to be the best of all. I don’t know why, but I don’t like Deepika Padukone as well as her acting. But the song is just awesome. Once you take a look at the lyrics, you’ll realize why I chose it as my favorite. Thanks to the person who wrote the lyrics. It’s a fantastic one.

Who hasn’t listened one of the most favorite Bangla song, Pori, by bappa? I guess all of you have listened to it countless times. Now, what I want you to do is listen the same song again from a different singer. Introducing my elder brother, Shapan!

Few weeks ago, I had a visit to my Brother’s room in Bakshibazar, Azimpur, Dhaka. He is a student of Dhaka Medical College (Final Year) and stays at Dr. Fazle Rabbi Hall. He is simply awesome in playing musical instruments especially guitar. I don’t know the exact name of the red guitar he has, but it’s widely knows as “Electric Guitar” in Bangladesh. You have to stand still once you listen to him playing his electric guitar.

After a few minutes-long argument, he agreed to sing a song and play the rhythm of guitar (maybe it’s called vocal or something). The opportunity of taking a shot of him singing a song doesn’t come too often. So, I readily started capturing with a Digital Video camera on my hand. I got to say sorry to all of you for poor video quality, as I forgot to set video mode to three star (high quality).

Also, the sound may not be clear; that too is a fault of camera. It’s not a latest model video camera, that’s why it’s not that good. But I believe that you’ll at least figure out the awesome rhythm my brother has got.

Farmgate is one of the busiest points of the capital city of Bangladesh. Quite more than a thousand of people and vehicle of all sizes move in and around this area. Office workers, students, businessman, etc all kinds of people including, but not limited to, beggars are gathered in this area all throughout the day. I usually don’t go to that place. My home is far enough from Farmgate. But sometimes I need to go there.
Since I don’t own a private car (a private car won’t even benefit), I have to go there by bus. When Farmgate comes around, the traffic goes from slower to stand-still. The picture below is supposed to give you a clear idea about how busy the area is.

My school was closed on the 29th of August on the occasions of month-long fasting, the largest religious festival of Muslims — Eid ul Fitr, and Durga Pooja. I have no idea how a vacation of 30 days went by. It was like I closed my eyes and 30 days were gone!
Anyway, after this long time vacation, I went to my school on 30th September. It was Wednesday. The weather was too hot. The scorching heat of the sun was burning everything on the surface. But there was no choice but attend the class.
My class time is of 5 hours with a break of about 25-minutes after first four periods. Everything was OK. My classroom is large, and it has four ceiling fans above. The air was at least preventing us from being sweating badly. But the worst thing happened when there was a power-cut. Sudden discontinuation of power supply due to shortage of electricity is called Load-Shedding here.

And there was no electricity for 2 hours out of 5-hours class time.

Schools remain closed from afternoon to morning before the class of morning shift begins. If the Prime Minister of the Government of Bangladesh were here, I would have definitely asked her to at least make sure uninterrupted power supply to all of the junior and high schools in the city.

Giraffes are one of the most attractive animals National Zoo (situated at Mirpur, Dhaka) has. People of all age are curious enough to meet these tall-necked guys. More than a year ago when a few giraffes were bought from South Africa and caged in the zoo, the number of visitors rapidly increased.

As well as others, I was also keen to meet the guys in person! So, avoiding the rainy weather, I went to the national zoo with a DV (Digital Video) camera to take some photos of the guests. In fact, my purpose to visit the zoo was not only see the giraffes but also take some of their photos and collect some information about them including some other newly-brought animals to write a short report on it.

When I met the Giraffes, they were in a happy mode. But I was wondering how long they would remain happy inside a Bangladeshi zoo although it’s a state-run zoo situated in the capital.

Finally, my fears have come true. One of those giraffes has died recently. A government official said in condition of anonymity,

“Suspected Complications caused death of the Giraffe which was among 19 other species of animals including a Zebra, a Tapir, and a Tiger who have died inside the zoo since January.”

News Agency AFP noted that, “Last year the zoo spent 800,000 dollars bringing 38 animals, including the three-year-old giraffe, from South Africa.”

So, as a result of the death, the fear has just increased that remaining giraffes may also become a victim of it. But there is something that ’sounds’ good. AFP reported that,

“The Ministry of Livestock has suspended the chief zoo keeper and his deputy due to their negligence over the death of the giraffe,” acting zoo chief Bibekananda Chowdhury told AFP.

Local newspapers accused zoo staff of failing to give the animal proper medical treatment.

Reza Khan, Bangladesh’s top wildlife expert who heads Dubai Zoo in the United Arab Emirates, told AFP the number of deaths were “abnormally high” and that poor conditions and lack of expertise were to blame.

“Dhaka zoo is run by vets who don’t know the eating habits and wildlife environment of the animals they keep,” he said by telephone from Dubai, adding that the cages and enclosures were of a poor standard.

As an ordinary citizen of the country, what I can expect is a good care of the animals who were bought at a high price and kept inside the zoo which obviously earns a great amount of revenue to Government. We all can clearly see that other giraffes are in the queue of death. But we don’t expect so. Personally, I hope now the zoo keepers will be careful enough to take care of the animals.

The death rate is incredibly high at the Dhaka Zoo. The government should take any necessary step to prevent animals from being “killed”. The zoo was in lack of Giraffes since last few years until 5 new giraffes were brought last year. Now, one of them has already died. If other Giraffes die, the zoo will lose one of its main attractions which will eventually decrease the curiosity of people to have a visit to the zoo.

Also, tigers are being killed in and around Sundarbans for some reasons. Therefore, tigers in the zoo should be kept with carefulness so that they don’t fall sick. But what actually happens is they too are getting killed at an alarming rate. If the death rate continues, we are sure to fall in shortage of our National Animal in our country.

My school is a little bit far from my home. These days the population around my home is increasing at an alarming rate. Well, I see the pharmacies are always open. So, I’m still confused why the population is increasing even though the pharmacies are open. :-/
Anyway, the densely populated area remains too much busy all throughout the day. Even during midnight, traffic movement is slower than turtle’s walking speed. This makes lives of the people here too annoying and difficult.

As a result of almost twenty-hour traffic jam in our home and school area, pretty often I become late in arriving my school. “Because of traffic jam” is one of the most common excuses students make so I can no longer show this excuse. I was just thinking what can be a perfect excuse to reach school late.
While surfing the net, I found a hilarious joke and I’m willing to apply it next time I get late in reaching school. Well, I have to prepare myself for a bunch of rude talks from the teacher if I’m going to follow the student as below:

Teacher: Why are you so late today?
Student: Sir, I’m late because I noticed and obeyed to the sign on the road.
Teacher: What sign are you talking about?
Student: A sign that says, “School Ahead, Go Slow.”

The following is a story I wrote in my second terminal examination of my school. The question was titled as “Completing Story”. A beginning paragraph of a fictitious story was given in the question paper. Students were asked to complete the story with their own imagination. I also answered the question. But the difference was that, I did write it totally from my own. I mean, I didn’t read it earlier in any guidebook. I thought I won’t get expected mark in that answer. Luckily, I got 11 mark out of 15 for that story and that was the highest among 134 students in my class.

As I wrote the story in the exam’s answer sheet and I didn’t practice writing the same story ever before, I don’t exactly remember the whole story. But since the writer himself is here, why not try to re-write the story!

The Story Begins here:

Once there were two friends. They used to study in the same class. So, they were classmates too. They promised each another that they will help each another in danger.
One day, they were passing through a deep and dark forest. As they were walking through the forest, one of them heard some kind of weird sound. He was wondering what was making that weird but scary sound. He was staring his eyes around himself. And suddenly he discovered the sound maker. He was so horrified by it that he forgot to move or shout loudly.

It was a snake! A terrible-looking Cobra hanging from a tree. It was looking him with its evil eyes. He was just thinking if his friend, who walked faster for what he was a bit ahead, would notice it and do something to help him.
He knew that, if the snake bites him, he would die.

His friend (hereinafter called “The Second friend”) noticed that his friend (hereinafter called “The First Friend”) is not with him. So he stopped walking and moved backward. He noticed his friend is stood like a statue in front of a tree. When he was about to call him, he noticed the snake on the tree. His friend was at the range of that Cobra. He got frightened seeing that scene and thought to himself that he is the one present around. So he has to do something to save his friend from that terrible-looking snake.

When the second friend was thinking what should he do to save his friend, the first one was still breathing heavily. He is counting each seconds and imagining that the snake bites him and he becomes dead! He was thinking to himself, “If I try to move an inch, the snake will leave me dead!”
So, he lost his hope to stay alive and go back to his home alive.

But the second friend was intelligent. He looked for a thick stick and finally found one. Then he started getting closer to the snake from the backside of it. The first friend could clearly see the movement of his friend thought he was unsure what the purpose of his friend was.
The good thing was the snake couldn’t realize that it has got an enemy behind it.

Coming from the backside of the snake, the second friend started beating the snake with the stick he picked up from the ground. He was so brave that’s why it was possible for him. The snake fell down and the second friend continued beating it. He too was at the risk of death; so he was desperate to kill it at any cost.

A few moments later, the snake stopped moving. Seeing it motionless, the second friend told the first friend that either the snake was dead or unconscious. “We should escape immediately”, he added.

So, they both left the jungle. The first friend acknowledged to the second friend for saving his life. But the second friend said, “It was my responsibility to save your life somehow”. The first friend felt great to have such a friend.

A few weeks later

On a fine afternoon, they both went out to have a walk by the riverbank. The weather was so nice and charming. When they were walking by the riverbank, the first friend suggested to have a little boat journey. The second friend agreed the proposal because he could realize how pleasure a journey by boat would give him.
As proposed, they hired a small boat which has no engine. The first friend knew driving boat very well as his father was a boatman. So, he was driving the boat towards the open river.
Both of them were feeling amazing. But their joy didn’t last much longer. A few minutes later they noticed the weather was no longer nice. It turned stormy making the sky cloudy. The first friend felt the urgency of going back. But the second friend became afraid.
When the first friend noticed that his friend’s face became pale, he asked, “Why are you so afraid?”
“I’m afraid of the windy weather.”
“Well, we’re going back to the ground. Nothing to worry.”
“Still, I don’t know swimming!”
“What?! You don’t know swimming?”
“No, I don’t. If the boat sinks now, I will just go underwater and die.”
“Oh, man! Come on, don’t worry. The boat will not sink. I know driving boats very well.”

The first friend was truly well in driving boats. But the young boatman failed to control his little boat when the weather turned too much windy. As a result of losing control of the boat, it sank.

The second friend didn’t know how to swim. So he was just moving his hands and legs at random. His friend felt the responsibility of saving him as he was who proposed to have the journey by boat. Besides it, it was his friend who was in danger. So he swam towards his friend, grabbed him, and got back to the ground.
Thus, he saved his friend’s life.

This proved they were really true friends. They didn’t only promised to each another, but they also kept their words. They took the risk of their own lives to save the friend whenever in danger. This is what called true friendship. Each and every friendship in the world should be like this.

Different people have different choices. A lot of people like pet animals. Most of the people like Dogs as pet animals. Birds, Cats etc as pet animal arent rare.
We have pet animals too. Ours are birds. It is called “Love Birds”. They look truly lovely. They live in a small cage. It hangs on in front of our door. The cage is tied up with a rope that comes from the roof. Let’s take a look at the family that lives inside a cage in front of our door.

Their life is simple — with no worries, sadness and struggle. They wake up early in the morning and start tweeting (calling) for foods. It’s pretty great to see when both of them sit on the empty pot of food that is kept inside the cage and call loudly for food. It looks like sitting on a dining table and waiting for breakfast. They are really cute. I tried several times to take a photo when they wait for breakfast sitting on the pot of food. But they are always frightened. Whenever I get closer to them, they get frightened and leave the pose. So, instead of taking a photo, I enjoy the scene.

They pass all day playing with whatever we keep inside the cage. Some useless papers are kept in the floor of cage. They always play with it. Apparently it looks like they are eating paper. They bite the papers with their hard and fast little lips. This is a common behaviour of both male and female lovebirds. [You may refer to Wikipedia's related section.] Also, if you hang a thin rope or a cotton thread inside the cage, they will start playing with it. They are always joyous and happy — unlike us!

They take their last meal of the day at the time when the Sun prepares to set down. During Evening, they complete their dinner and then try to fall asleep. Though most of the time I find them awake during midnight. But when they sleep, they look like two little toy-birds. That’s so beautiful.

Some people don’t like domesticating birds inside of a cage. Well, I do agree with them that it’s really a bit crucial to keep birds inside of a cage. But it should be mentioned that the birds we are domesticating can’t live outside the cage. Love Birds are also termed as Cage Birds who spend their lives most happily inside of a cage.
